Welcome to pediatricfeedingnews! I am a speech pathologist/pediatric feeding specialist who treats children and families with a variety of feeding problems on an interdisciplinary feeding team.
Most likely you have found yourself here because you are a parent or caregiver of a child with a feeding problem, or know someone who is. This can be a very difficult problem for the child and the family. Meal time may be frustrating and stressful. This type of problem can be very difficult to treat.
Feeding problems
- Affect all ages from birth to adulthood.
- Can look different with each child.
- Can cause poor weight gain, oral motor delays, abnormal eating patterns, difficult behavior.
- Affects the entire family.
- Many different professionals treat feeding problems.
- There are many different ways to treat feeding problems.
I hear from my families that they are often given conflicting information from professionals so proceeding with treatment can be confusing, time consuming, and expensive. I want to assure you that there is hope and that there are many successful treatment options available for these children.
This blog is written for professionals working with children with feeding problems, however, you are welcome to use the site as well. Please consider purchasing my ebook which was written for parents. I would also recommend Feeding Matters – https://www.feedingmatters.org/ . This site was developed by parents to support families of children with feeding problems.
You are welcome to email me directly but please understand that I can’t give specific medical advice. I may be able to give general advice or recommend a program or clinician near you.
Feel free to email me questions at feedingnewsletter@gmail.com .
thank you, Krisi Brackett
