A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to spend an afternoon with the Children’s Multidisciplinary Feeding Program at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. I wanted to send a shout out and thank you to Michele Cole Clark, SLP-CCC and the team for giving me a tour and allowing me to observe their terrific work during an afternoon of feeding treatment at their facility. Most of you know, I am a big fan of multidisciplinary treatment for children with complex feeding problems. I love to learn and to spend time with therapists and professionals who work with children with feeding problems. Honestly, I was blown away by their set up.

This included things like a pantry to prepare special food for their patients, state the art observation rooms, and special cameras in the treatment rooms which allow observers a close up of the child’s mouth while they are feeding. I got a look at how they keep data and track progress. We watched as children progressed with acceptance of foods and parents were trained to feed their children successfully. I am proud to write that two of our former UNC students are now part of this amazing team.

Several of the team members from the Multidisciplinary Feeding Program at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta will be presenting on Feeding and Autism at ASHA 2019 in Orlando (November 21-23, 2019).
They are pretty amazing there! I am excited we will have a chance to visit in April and see the new facility.
Krisi,
Thanks so much for the lovely shout- out 🙂 It was awfully nice to have you visit and share in our excitement in the expansion of our program. I also have to say thank you to you for the fantastic training program that you lead. These two clinicians came into our program so well prepared- they have been an amazing addition to our clinical staff!
Thanks so much!
Michele
