We need you for research!

February 10, 2016 by Krisi Brackett Leave a Comment

Hello,                                flock

We are recruiting parents of children 6 months to 7 years to take part in a research study about feeding behaviors in young children. The primary purpose of this study is to complete the psychometric testing of the Pediatric Eating Assessment Tool (Pedi-EAT). We need approximately 500 parents to complete the survey and the majority of these need to be parents of children with feeding difficulty.

If you work with young children with feeding difficulty, we would greatly appreciate your help to spread the word about this study. We want to get this done so that the Pedi-EAT can be put to use!

Here are the details to share:

Who can participate?

If you are an adult (over 18 years old) and you have a child between the ages of 6 months and 7 years old that is being offered solid food (non-liquids) by mouth, you can participate.

What will we ask you to do?

We will ask you to complete an online survey. In the survey, we will ask you questions about your child’s feeding behaviors, medical history and development. We will also ask you some questions about yourself and your family so that we can describe the people who helped us with this study.

How long will it take?

The survey may take you 20 – 45 minutes to complete. When the survey is complete, you will be offered a $10 Amazon.com e-gift card.

To participate, follow this link to the Survey:

This study (IRB #15-3374) has been approved by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Office of Human Subjects Research Institutional Review Board and is being conducted by researchers in the UNC Schools of Nursing and Medicine. The study is funded by the UNC School of Nursing through a SPARK (Support Pilots for Advancing Research & Knowledge) award. If you agree to take part, all information you give will be confidential. For more information about your rights as a research participant, you may contact the UNC institutional review board at 919-966-3113.

If you have questions about the study, please contact Dr. Suzanne Thoyre at thoyre@email.unc.edu or 919-966-8418.

Thank you,
