Nutritional Medicinals, LLC Announces Organic Pediatric Whole Foods Feeding Tube Formula And Complete Meal Replacement With Nourish™ Product

Makers of Functional Formularies brand say Nourish is first of its kind for kids

(CENTERVILLE, OH) [April 20, 2016] – Shelby Huerta cried all the time. The food through her gastric tube gave the five-year-old digestive issues night and day. “It’s the hardest thing to see your child go through something that you can’t stop,” said Victoria Garcia, Shelby’s mother. “We were willing to try anything to help Shelby.”

Victoria Garcia gave Shelby a new formula. Nourish is a nutritionally complete pediatric plant-based formula free of all eight common food allergens. The USDA-certified organic meal replacement product is the latest from the Functional Formularies brand that also launched Liquid Hope, the first and only certified organic whole foods meal for people with feeding tubes.

“Nourish, like Liquid Hope, was created out of necessity, plain and simple. After I developed Liquid Hope for my father, I began getting dozens of requests for the product. To my amazement, many were from parents of children on feeding tubes and honestly, I had no idea the size of the population of tube-fed children. Although we’ve had hundreds of children successfully use Liquid Hope, many registered dietitians felt the protein was too high for children, so we decided to fill a huge void in the pediatric market and launched Nourish,” said Robin Gentry McGee, founder and CEO of the company. “We made the pre-launch samples available and did a couple of giveaways and what we are seeing with Nourish meal replacement is the same thing we’ve seen for three years with our customers on Liquid Hope. When you give the body whole foods nutrition without any added sugars or fruit juice concentrates, it is amazing how that can more effectively support the body’s systems. We are already hearing tremendous success stories from families and caregivers who shared their need for a pediatric version. We’re happy this has finally come to fruition for kids like Shelby.”

Each 12-ounce pouch of Nourish meal replacement boasts a robust label with ingredients such as organic garbanzo beans, green peas, brown rice, kale and sprouted quinoa. The new pediatric meal is free of all eight of the most common food allergens, such as tree nuts, soy and dairy. It is also gluten- and GMO-free, with packaging that’s BPA-, latex- and silver-free. Focused on purity, Liquid Hope and Nourish meal replacements are also free of glyphosates, an active ingredient found in many herbicides that can also show up in many certified organic ingredients.

“Kids deserve the best, especially when they are ill or have compromised health. Nourish fits that description to the ‘T,’” said John Bagnulo, Ph.D. and director of nutrition at Nutritional Medicinals. “The healthy fats and vegetables used in this formula are what a child’s brain and GI need the most. There are no fillers, no sources of inflammation, no hidden sugars – just ingredients that help support a child’s health.”

According to her mother, Shelby Huerta is thriving with Nourish meal replacement, and her tummy troubles are gone. “We are so beyond ecstatic and can’t wait to continue feeding Shelby on Nourish. It has changed her life in so many great ways,” said Victoria Garcia. “Maybe to others these changes seem small, but for us, Nourish has helped promote good digestive health for Shelby.”

    Hi Krisi,
Thanks for all of the great info in your posts. Could Nourish be used in place of the Neocate Splash?
